‘Conflict of interests’

Marianne Thieme

There still seems to be a conflict of interests at Wageningen University, animal rights party leader Marianne Thieme claimed in a parliamentary debate about the government agreement. In her view the university should not therefore come under the ministry of Economic Affairs, but under the ministry of Education, like other universities. Prime Minister Mark Rutte dismissed her suggestion out of hand, however: in his view there is no question of a conflict of interests. He pointed to the valuable direct link between science and practice in the agricultural sector.
