Rutger Kroes, student of Economics and Policy, put out a call on Facebook and managed to persuade about 20 housemates, sport mates and friends to join him in a refreshing New Year’s dip after a long night on the tiles. ‘Of course the water was not as cold as it has been in recent years. When I organized it I hoped that we would have to hack through the ice before we could run in.’ Rutger thinks it would be nice to organize another swim next year, and hopes it will freeze then. ‘I am a skater, so I prefer water with a layer of ice on top anyway.’
Washing away the hangover
