He has been made honorary member of the International Association for Plant Protection Sciences (IAPPS). Between 1980 and 1994, Zadoks was professor of Ecological Phytopathology in Wageningen, where one of his achievements was to develop a system for the eco-friendly management of diseases and pests. He also wrote a standard work on plant protection and advised many international agricultural organizations. Together with professor Lawrence Apple, Zadoks is the first person to be made honorary life member of the IAPPS.
