The auction was part of Argo’s centenary celebrations. The same day the club also held a symposium about its rowing successes, led by the famous Argo alumnus Gerrit Hiemstra. The day was devoted to the question of how get to the top, with insights from a top oarsman, top coach, nutritionist and sports psychologist. A reunion will follow later this year and the festivities will be rounded off with a big party.
Going, going, gone!
Argo rowing club earned 1300 euros on Saturday 9 February from a real live art auction. Auctioneer Alexander Pechtold (day job: Dutch MP) sold off five paintings by boat repairman Adrie Brouwer and artistic relatives of Argonauts. The proceeds will go towards renovating the clubhouse.
