‘I am looking forward to it,’ says Kersten. ‘I feel this position fits me like a glove, and I am happy to be given this opportunity.’ Kersten will be steering the academic course of the group doing research on how our bodies react to nutrition at the minutest level.
There is a lot of change ahead for the group. In 2015 all the nutrition-related groups are moving to Helix, a new building on the Wageningen Campus. Kersten will also face diminishing funding for molecular nutrition research. Kersten already has a long history at Wageningen. He has been working here since 2000 and he studied Human Nutrition at Wageningen University from 1989 to 1993.
