These three facilities will be erected on Bronland next to the planned Campus Plaza. But there is some urgency and construction needs to be started before the end of this year. If that deadline is not managed, Wageningen UR will miss out on a substantial provincial subsidy for this project, of up to 3.5 million euros.
The planned Techno-hall is to house research facilities primarily for the further development of technology for use from the lab to the pilot. The Incubator and the business centre will provide office space for smaller companies and outposts of large international companies in the fields of food, agro and biobased.
Out of date
In the strategic plan for the campus published last Autumn, it was still assumed that the three buildings would be constructed separately and consecutively over the next few years. But that plan is already out of date. With the provincial subsidy, Wageningen UR now aims at simultaneous construction of these facilities, and the building which will house all three must now be completed next year. To do this, work will have to be speeded up. In order to gain time, several planning procedures which are usually consecutive will now run parallel to each other. If no formal objections are lodged, it will be possible to start construction in December.
