Energetic music and vibrant clouds of colored powder filled sports centre De Bongerd, where the beginning of spring was celebrated during the Hindu Holi festival. A celebration with many meanings. In many parts of India, large bonfires are lit on the night before the festival, where women dance and sing around the flames to ritually burn away negative emotions. The next morning, the more well-known part of the festival begins: everyone takes to the streets to play with gulal, the colorful powder, and water.
Resource student-photographer Yijun Zhu captured the ambiance.
