Seven KSV Franciscus members will broadcast non-stop between 22 and 24 November. Additionally, the association and its members will organise a variety of activities to raise funds for a local charity. This year’s charity is the Speelgoedbank (toy bank), an organisation which collects toys for disadvantaged families in and around Wageningen.

Francerious Request started as a tongue-in-cheek fundraising initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic but has since developed into an annual tradition. Each year, there are different activities, but the basis remains the same: a radio marathon to raise money for a local charity. In 2022, over 2500 euros were raised for the Manege Zonder Drempels (equestrian society for the disabled). During last year’s edition, well over 6400 euros were raised for Van Wal Naar Schip. One of the most successful activities was a non-stop 380-kilometre skelter tour by one of the year clubs. They even made the national news.

Togetherness

Roos Donkers is KSV Franciscus’ current chair. ‘Seeing Francerious Request grow bigger each year is great. Members inspire each other with their activities. Last year’s skelter club, for example, has a new spectacular activity planned for this year. That motivates others to do their best to raise money for a charity. This is not just about giving back to the community, but also about creating a sense of togetherness within our association.’

Donkers states that this year’s programme includes a children’s disco, a bingo, a Christmas market, and a pub quiz. ‘What the year clubs and fraternities have planned this year is still a surprise.’

You can follow the radio marathon via Twitch from 22 to and including 24 November and occasionally through RTV Rijnstreek. Want to stay informed? Follow Francerious Request on Instagram.
