A total of 1426 first-year bachelor students were enrolled on the 1 October reference date. In 2023, 1477 first-year students had enrolled, which means there has been a drop of 3.5 per cent. The influx of masters’ students remained stable (+0.5 per cent), says Geertje Braat of Education and Student Affairs.

A few things stand out when looking at the influx numbers. The influx of Dutch bachelor students dropped significantly less (-2.5 per cent) than initially feared. A 5 per cent drop was expected, based on the pre-enrolment numbers in June.

The influx of international students in the masters’ programmes shows a slight drop, says Braat. ‘But the number of Dutch enrolments increased, keeping the total more or less stable.’

Decline

The total number of WUR students declined slightly. On 1 October 2023, a total of 13,057 students were enrolled at WUR. This year, there were 12,733 enrolments on that date, which means the total student population is 2.5 per cent smaller than last year.
