Update Monday, 28 October:
Part of the Forum building will remain closed until Wednesday, 30 October, due to smoke and water damage resulting from the fire last Thursday. The right side of the building, viewed from the main entrance, will remain closed. The library is also closed, but the Student Service Center desk, next to the front desk on the Forum ground floor, and the Servicepoint IT remain open.

Some 200 students and staff had to leave the building and stood watching as the fire department entered the building on the Droevendaalsesteeg with a fire hose. Several extinguishing systems were automatically activated, causing water flooding and the basement had to be pumped out. Under supervision students are allowed to go inside to get their things.

UPDATE Forum will be closed through Sunday. Students and staff have been informed.

There appeared to be a fire in meter boxes on several floors, in a small shaft running behind an elevator shaft. This caused considerable smoke on several floors. The fire department quickly scaled up to a medium-sized fire. ‘No one appears to have been injured’, said spokesperson Jan-Willem Bol. The extent of the damage and whether the fire will affect education are still being assessed.’

The first report arrived at the emergency center around 7:40 in the evening and was scaled up to “medium-sized fire” within 11 minutes. The fire department was present, including 2 tankers. Fire brigades from Bennekom and other places were alerted for assistance.

At around half past ten under supervision students were allowed to go inside to get their things.
